Now, really is a good time to buy real estate
This is my personal opinion, and not an endorsed message from my employer.
I've been thinking about this Super Bowl commercial all day.
I have no idea if this is a good car. I wrote off Detroit a long time ago. A friend of mine even remarked, "I didn't know Chrysler still existed." Yet, here's a "Buy American" message that, for the first time in my life, actually resonates with me. Not because it's important to keep jobs in Detroit. Not because I'm guilted into it. But because Chrysler is taking pride in who they are and what they are made of. It's genius.
Few industries are more embattled than real estate. The US auto industry is one of them. In my opinion, our industry could learn a lot from this commercial. There are opportunities in the housing sector for homeshoppers to become homebuyers. More so, there are situations where people may never see a more opportune time to buy a home than right now. And yet, we are afraid to say it:
"Now is a good time to buy real estate."
We said it too often, and too late. We said it when we probably shouldn't have. And now we are gun shy to say it again. Maybe we shouldn't use those exact words. But it's about time to start thinking of how to craft this message responsibly, effectively and most of all, with pride.
